The GMSDC is uniquely positioned as an advocacy organization in support of small business development, supplier diversity, economic development and procurement best practices. Through its affiliation with the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC), the other affiliate councils around the nation, and its corporate partners, the GMSDC is a thought leader and a key influencer of policies and outcomes that impact business in Georgia. LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY

The GMSDC maintains close ties to elected and appointed officials at all levels of government, monitoring legislation that might impact our constituents and weighing in as appropriate. Primary areas of emphasis are

  • Buy Georgia First – prioritizing doing business with Georgia companies
  • Diverse Procurement – practices that are inclusive and equitable
  • Economic Development – policies that encourage new business
  • Affordable Health Care – one of the largest expenses for small business
  • Regulatory Efficiency – policies that simplify things and reduce red tape

GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS INDUSTRY GROUP

The Governmental Affairs Industry Group is comprised entirely of Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) leaders, this group has a strong presence in the halls of government and relationships with elected officials, to stay abreast of bills, policies and trends that might affect our constituents. We keep tabs on pending legislation and proactively interact with local, state and national officials.
