In 1975 – before some of us were even born – a small group of Georgia corporations came together to discuss inclusive procurement practices. Their vision became a movement that would become the GMSDC. Their foresight has changed the way business is done in Georgia. Given the political climate of business at the time, our founding corporate partners were forward-thinking leaders that challenged the traditional procurement practices. Our corporate partners are the lifeblood of the GMSDC. Without their support and encouragement, there would be no GMSDC.
Many of our corporate partners have been a part of the council for many years. We look forward to recognizing the six (6) companies that have traveled every single step of our journey thus far. Our founding corporate partners include AT&T, The Coca-Cola Company, Cox Enterprises, Delta Air Lines, Georgia Power and WestRock (formerly MeadWestveco)
On this 45th Anniversary of the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council, it is our absolute pleasure to recognize the six corporations that started it all. This week we will spotlight three of these phenomenal corporations.
Cox Enterprises
Cox Enterprises has always had their focus serving the communities in which their employees live and work. The disruption of the global supply chain has challenged us all and Cox is included in that number. With respect to that, Cox is continuing to serve the community, just as they did in 1975 as a founding member of GMSDC.

Delta Air Lines
Today the Delta Air Lines tagline “Keep Climbing Together,” is more meaningful than before. As a founding member of GMSDC, Delta Air Lines, was concerned with the growth and development of the Georgia Community. Considering these times, Delta is continuing to show concern for the community with their efforts of support.
