Governor Brian P. Kemp issued an executive order directing the Department of Administrative Services (DOAS) to create the position of Small Business and Supplier Diversity Manager.
The person in this role will engage small and diverse businesses and help them navigate through the procurement process with the State. In addition, the DOAS will host stakeholder meetings and outreach activities with small businesses to gain a better understanding of the challenges and obstacles that inhibit these businesses from participating in the procurement process. The DOAS would also be responsible for producing recommendations on how to make the state’s procurement process more accessible to small businesses.
The Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council is in full support of this announcement. This appointment is an exciting first step on the road to economic equity in the state of Georgia. We look forward to working with the state of Georgia and supporting their supplier diversity initiatives. Click here for our full statement in partnership with the Georgia Chamber.
