For Women’s History Month, we recognize the outstanding women that make up our GMSDC family. We celebrate Daryll Harris Griffin, President of Accolades, Inc. Accolades has been a long-standing certified Minority Business Enterprise since 1992.
In celebration of Women’s History Month, who are the most inspiring women in your life?
My Mother was a born leader. An educator by training, her confident leadership was two pronged: As a servant leader, she mentored others to success; Also, she voluntarily gave “the gift” of her time and talents to numerous causes and organizations. She was an awesome role model! Also, Harriette Tubman, who was fearless during slavery. She had vision, she was on a mission while risking her own life, and her acute focus inspired a movement.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing women in business today?
Balance of family life, professional career, and volunteer causes.
What is the best advice you’ve received in your career?
“Find a mentor and mentor others.” Be willing to step up and lead.
Any advice for future women business leaders?
Be authentic and willing to grow; be flexible and stick to your core ethics; Share. Understand that kindness, gratitude and humility are nonus. Put them into action as verbs and you will live a life of abundance.
